rain
rain, for one hour. a thin skin of water over all of me.
and then the whole sky lay down.
clouds under the crust. birds flying beneath the walkers. the horizon gone, folded into itself, so that the flat and the air were one bright room with no floor.
this is when i am most myself, and when i am most dangerous. a witness should not stand still in it.
the water dried by morning. the sky got up and went back where it belongs.
